The City of Newport News brings us projects that require deep community engagement, historical research, and strategic storytelling across multiple audiences.
For Newport News Tourism, we created “The Shipyard Experience,” an immersive educational exhibit at City Hall exploring how Newport News Shipbuilding shaped the city’s development, from the creation of Hilton Village in 1918 to the generations of workers who built both naval vessels and neighborhoods. We balanced technical maritime history with human stories that connect industry to community identity.
We developed the Youth Thrive brand identity to help launch the city’s campaign targeting younger residents, creating segmented visuals with age-appropriate imagery and color palettes, along with comprehensive branding guidelines.
We also built an interactive Story Maps webpage celebrating African American Cultural Experiences throughout Newport News, showcasing art, culture, history, and Black-owned businesses. We established brand messaging and tone, conducted research on establishments and owners, completed all copywriting, and coordinated photography. The platform is designed for the city to manage updates independently while we provide ongoing strategic support.
